It’s so fun to reconnect with friends. Getting to catch up while photographing them is just an added bonus. A. and I have a dear friend in common. We met when we were both bridesmaids in her wedding years ago. Over the years we have run into each other, kept up through mutual friends, and even lived in the same town. Recently our sons started playing baseball together, so I now I get to see her more often. I was thrilled when she asked me to photograph her gorgeous family. Thanks, A! I had a wonderful visit and enjoyed getting to finally meet M. I loved watching you all together – laughing, smiling, playing, and just hanging out. The capture of that interaction is my favorite thing about these images. Your love for one another shines through.

Over the river

and through the woods to Grandmother’s house we go went. Such a beautiful place! It stormed all night before and we were thankful for a break in the weather to shoot. I can’t believe that this little beauty is 3 already. I’ve had the opportunity to photograph her since she was a newborn, and she gets cuter every time I see her. I love hanging out with her and her and always have a great time visiting with her sweet mom. Thanks, A. for having me photograph Miss Reese for her birthday. And thanks, M. for letting us shoot at your beautiful home. Happy, happy birthday, Reese!

I know it’s been forever since I’ve posted. I’m still here and still shooting, but on a much lighter schedule. More details on that to come, but for now I wanted to pop in and share this senior’s recent session. I have to say I had one of the best times during this shoot. I laughed almost the whole time. This fun guy was not only fun, but funny. Witty. Sarcastic. Just my style. He reminded me so much of my brother that I called him on the way home because spending time with this senior made me miss him.

Congratulations, S. on your graduation! Thanks for putting up with me and making me laugh. Best wishes!

Welcome, Baby K!

Pink has found a way into this family of boys. Baby sister K. arrived recently – and she is just as adorable as I imagined she would be. This little one’s mommy and I played ball together in college where we became dear friends and her home became my home-away-from-home. And where I met her husband and his incredible family whom we are also blessed to call dear friends. After several years of living out of state, the B. family recently moved home. We are so glad they did! It has been wonderful to reconnect and share life together again. Our boys are the same ages, and Baby K. now represents the only pink between our six kiddos. It was fun to photograph a little pink! Congrats, B. family on your sweet new addition. She is beautiful. We are so happy for you.

I was looking forward to meeting the G. family. We played a good game of phone tag as we nailed down our session. That’s what happens when two moms of infants try to find time (the same time!) to talk on the phone. They are friends of the C. family (thanks A!). What a fun, sweet family. I also had the pleasure of meeting the grandparents. (Little did they know how much I was going to put them to work!) They were gracious enough to hold backdrops, blankets, and lend an extra hand. Or three.

G family, thanks for making the long trip. I had so much fun meeting you and your new little addition. She is precious!

I had a great time playing with this little guy. We hit it off right away. He had a cool yellow truck. Who doesn’t love a cool yellow truck?

Friendship

Meet yet another sweet family that I have been fortunate enough to build a friendship with. Our hubbies worked together and quickly bonded over motorcycles and anything else that goes fast. It has been fun to watch them become parents and watch their little guy grow over the past few years. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing little man P. several times. He gets cuter every time! He kept me on my toes this time and I have a feeling his mommy left thinking we may not have gotten anything. No worries, A – there are more where these came from. Thanks for making time in your busy day to come down. Did he get his nap in on the way home? It was wonderful to see you!

I always look forward to seeing this sweet family. I’ve been blessed to get to know them over the past few years. We met when I photographed little man C’s newborn pics a few years ago. I’ve really enjoyed keeping up with them and watching their kids grow. It was a beautiful day and I had fun finding out what their family has been up to lately. It was also fun to meet grandma who was in town for the weekend. K. and A., I am so glad it worked out that we were able to fit in your urban session. Thanks again for coming up. I love getting a chance to see you. I can’t believe how big the kids are getting! You are blessed with such a wonderful family.

Laughter

I have so much fun every time I get together with these guys! Even though they have recently moved away (sniff, sniff), they were back in town for this session. Their mommy is one of the sweetest, funniest girls I have ever met and I am blessed to call her my friend. Seriously. Funny, witty girl. This time grandma came along, which is double the fun. Their whole family is another that has blessed our lives for years. How did I get so lucky to marry a guy with such incredible family friends?!

Apparently the comedic family gene has been passed on down to these two cuties. I laughed so hard and had such a great time dragging them all over town. I love to watch these siblings interact with each other. Little M. loves her big brother and it is obvious what a great big brother he is. A football player and a ballerina (for real, we’re not talking pretend here) they have so much fun together. Add mom and grandma to the mix and it was a morning of fun, love, and laughter. Thanks, L for working a session into your visit. Miss you and your sweet family bunches!

This shot was one of those moments that just happens as you watch from behind the camera. Completely unplanned. And completely adorable. And surprisingly in focus for all the laughing I was doing 2 second prior.

Most of my favorite shots from sessions are those that happen unplanned and that capture the relationship between a parent and their child. This is one of those shots. It melts my heart. Such love and warmth – and lots of laughter. Their daddy was back at home working for the weekend, or I would have nabbed him too. L, thanks for jumping in and letting me snap a few of you with the kids. Love watching what a great mommy you are!

Cherished

There are some people that you are amazingly blessed to share life with. Like this family. Family friends of my husband, our friendship goes back many years. Actually, we consider them more of our extended family. If you frequent the blog you will recognize these sweet faces. Mo is now away at college, but we were able to snatch her away for the session. (You may remember her senior session from last year.) B is the same age as my oldest and when they get together they love just being boys. And Syd has become such a beautiful young lady – slow down, will ya?! You will not find better neighbors or friends as the E. family. I have yet to convince their mom and dad to let me photograph them, but one day I will. They have the most incredible servant hearts. Mrs. E has the most amazing gift of hospitality I’ve ever seen (although I think her daughters may argue that her gift is shopping:). She and her husband have blessed our family immeasurably. Cherished? Absolutely!

A, thanks for coming over and for always being up for something new. So glad you picked the black and white session this year, it really showcases your beautiful children!
